How Each Dog Behaviour Session Works:

She uses a mindfulness technique called Trust Technique that creates a completely relaxed environment allowing your dog to relax and express themselves through their behaviours in a safe way. As she observes their responses, she holds space for them to release any unpeace, their anxiety, reactivity or concerns caused by health issues.

The technique allows your dog to find a peaceful state of mind, where they can develop confidence & begin to truly listen to your requests. This technique has an accumulative effect & brings about a lasting change, allowing your dog to let go of old fears & habits & create new behaviours from a place of confidence & self regulation.

How we helped Toffee begin to self regulate her Fear Aggression towards strangers:

The link below is a video clip showing moments from a first mindfulness session with a client and her dog. Toffee had become anxious and aggressive when meeting strangers both inside and outside of her home. As Toffee relaxes down and falls asleep in front of a stranger and nothing bad happens, she begins to reset her behaviours as she learns through positive, peaceful experience, that her human is keeping her safe.

What You And Your Dog Can Expect On The Day:

The Consultation is in 2 sessions approx one week apart.  Each session lasts approximately an hour and a half.

In the first session, Shelley will:

  • Assess the environment to check that it is safe and conducive for the successful use of the Trust Technique® and if it is;
  • Demonstrate The Trust Technique® with your animal.
  • Discuss the impact the technique has had on your animal.
  • Teach you how to use the technique.
  • Observe you conducting the Trust Technique® with your animal,  providing you with feedback and support.
  • Leave you with some exercises to practice before the next session.

The follow up visit will be approximately one week later and is included in the price.

During this session, Shelley will:

  • Answer any questions & discuss any changes in behaviour or wellbeing of your animal.
  • Work with your animal.
  • Review your use of the Technique so you feel confident using this method..

By now you will be recognising the benefits of this way of teaching your animal, you will have learned how to be there for them, as they begin to self regulate their behaviours in a positive & cooperative way.  You will be starting to fully enjoy your time together, rather than trying to control unwanted & stressful behaviours.

If more input is required, Shelley will then recommend an individual programme of one to one sessions, tailor made to suit you and your animal.

These sessions may take place either at their home or out and about on dog walks or rides etc. wherever most needed.
